FAQs
Do you have any type of certification or insurance?
Yes. You can be confident that your installation will be handled by an ASE (A6/Electrical) certified professional, with 25+ years of mobile electronics installation experience. We are also fully insured.
Do you accept credit cards?
Yes. We accept Visa, Discover and Mastercard. Please note a 3% processing fee applies to all credit card payments.
I am interested in your “on-site” installation service. Is there a fee for this service? Can you provide more details?
An Installer Direct representative can come to your home or office, provided with a suitable work environment, and perform the installation work on-site. A suitable work environment would be indoors with adequate lighting (i.e. garage). If you cannot provide a suitable work environment, Installer Direct can pick up your vehicle from your home/office (within a 5 mile radius of our Brick, NJ service garage) and transport it to our local garage. The typical fee associated with this service is between $20 and $80, depending on your location.
This service is available in the following lower Monmouth/northern Ocean County, NJ areas:
Asbury Park, Belmar, Bradley Beach, Brick, Brielle, Howell, Jackson, Lakewood, Manasquan, Manchester, Neptune Township, Ocean Township, Point Pleasant, Sea Girt, Seaside Heights, Seaside Park, Spring Lake, Tinton Falls, Toms River, Wall Township
If your town is not listed, in some cases we may extend our service area for an additional charge. For further details, please contact us.
Where is your shop located? Do I have to schedule an appointment? Can I wait for it?
Our primary business is servicing car dealerships, repair shops, and private garages for on-site service. Not having to maintain/pay rent on a building, like a typical retailer, helps keep our overhead costs to a minimum and our prices low. Realizing that everyone does not have a garage for on-site service, we offer drop-off appointments at one of our private garages. They are located in the Lake Riviera section of Brick, NJ. We do not have a waiting area. However, we do offer transportation to nearby Brick Plaza (Barnes & Noble, Starbucks, Applebee's and many more shops) while you wait. Depending on our commercial scheduling, we limit these appointments to select days. Appointments must be scheduled in advance. Drop-off location will be disclosed upon appointment confirmation, typically via e-mail.
Are you a retail business?
Our official classification is expediter. Installer Direct is NOT a retailer. We are the ANTI-RETAILER . When you contact us, you are contacting the technicians directly. This cuts out the middle-man (shop owner, dealership) or mark-up and typically saves you quite a bit of money. The systems we install for our customers are typically re-sold at 20-50% more by our commercial accounts.
Do you offer a warranty on your systems?
Absolutely! Our installations are guaranteed as long as you own the vehicle. All Firstech main processors (CPU/brain) are guaranteed for life against defects. The DEI Avital CPU has a one year warranty. Remote transmitters (with the exception of Compustar Pro, 2 years) are guaranteed one year against defects (industry standard).
How do your installations differ from that of the typical retailer?
With Installer Direct having 25+ years of installation experience, we use only high-quality equipment and, most importantly, take the time required to do the job right. Most retailers are looking to pump as many systems in/out as quickly as possible to maximize profits. This leads to installation “short-cuts” and sloppy installations (see photos) where problems may later develop. It is critical, especially in the “high-tech” vehicles we drive today, that your installation is handled by an experienced tech who will take the time to do a meticulous installation.
What remote start systems do you recommend?
Over the last 25+ years, we have had the opportunity to work with many different brands in a high-volume setting. We have worked with Crimestopper, Audiovox, Omega, DEI and Compustar, to name a few. We have narrowed the field down to the Firstech family brands for their reliability, innovation, and outstanding product support. Firstech includes popular brands like Compustar, Arctic Start, Nustart, Momento, and Drone Mobile. Some of their innovations include the first “two-way/long-range” remote start system, “Blade” all-in-one solution, RS232/2way data transfer, and the most user-friendly programming option method (OP500). Many of these features have been copied by other manufacturers. Only in recent years have competitors introduced their own second rate “all-in-one” solutions, whereas Compustar introduced their “Blade” platform many years before. Firstech is a remote start and vehicle security specialist. DEI, Audiovox etc. are electronics companies that make many things, including remote start and security products. They are not solely dependent on providing the best remote start and security products, as is Compustar.
What is the “key bypass/data module” that retailers charge extra for?
This required accessory sends the proper signal to your vehicle to expedite remote starting. Without this module, your vehicle would see the remote start as a “hot wire” or theft, and prevent the vehicle from starting. The most common anti-theft systems involve some type of coded “chip” (transponder) in the ignition key. But there are other systems, such as GM PASSLOCK, that are not “chip” based but rather “resistance code” based and still require a module for remote start. (Some newer GM systems use BOTH methods).
I already have a keyless entry remote. Can I use my existing (original manufacturer) remote to activate my remote start?
In most cases, yes. However, these systems are dependent on the range of your keyless entry, which is not always ideal for remote start range. Factory keyless entry systems are designed to operate when you are entering/exiting your car, at close range. If this range is adequate for your required remote start range, this type of system is entirely suitable.
Do you offer other automotive services?
As an automotive electrical specialist, AES LLC offers servicing, troubleshooting, and repair/replacement of vehicle electrical components. This includes (but is not limited to) troubleshooting intermittent issues, battery draw tests, component replacement (vehicle battery, main terminal service, power window motor / regulators, power door locks, electronic switches) AC/heat blower motor diagnosis, and lighting-related service/troubleshooting. While many mechanics are excellent parts changers (brakes, exhaust, suspension, tune-ups, etc..), not all are comfortable with troubleshooting and diagnosis of electronics and vehicle wiring systems. This is where we excel. Our labor rates are often lower than most repair shops, and we understand vehicle electronic principles and diagnosis as well as any technician.
Do you service/install car stereo systems, speakers, and components?
Yes, we do this type of work too, on a limited basis. With this type of service, our emphasis is on feature enhancement and sound quality while maintaining a factory appearance. We offer top brands, including Alpine, Pioneer, JVC, Kenwood, and Kenwood Excelon.
